Feedback on a Kickstarter gadget trying to battle smartphone addiction Posted: 17 Jan 2020 03:11 AM PST Hi everyone, we also asked for feedback on r/nosurf, we thought we would share it here as well! One year ago it became obvious to us we had to change something about our smartphone usage. We both read books about it (Digital Minimalism was a big game-changer) and listened to podcasts (Your Undivided Attention, Waking Up, Future Thinkers). We looked for different solutions, but all we could find were either minimalist phones or software (or a dumb phone, but we wanted to keep all the useful functionality of a smartphone). We tried a lot of the software, but it never really solved the problem, and the minimalist phones were just too expensive. We then decided we want to dedicate our time to finding a solution. Since we're both students from the Delft University of Technology, we created some technology to battle technology (a bit ironic, isn't it). We developed a USB key that empowers you to decide when to transform your Android phone into a distraction-free device. It basically gives you the ability to make a minimalist phone out of your smartphone whenever you want, so that you have more time to spend on the meaningful things in life. We tested it out with 30 people now and reactions have been very positive (one guy even went from using his phone for 3 hours per day to using it only 30 minutes daily). You would greatly help us by providing feedback on the product; you can check it out here: https://unplug.technology/ . If you have any feedback, could you send it to us on [info@unplug.technology](mailto:info@unplug.technology) or just reply here? Thanks in advance for your time! [link] [comments]
Is one plus 8 worth waiting for? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 02:57 AM PST Hi! I am planning to buy a new phone and a few friends strongly recommend one plus. I am quite confused. [link] [comments]

Is there a WiFi camera that connects directly to your phone? Posted: 16 Jan 2020 07:44 PM PST As the title suggests I'm looking for a small camera, preferably battery powered, that can hook directly to my phones WiFi (or Bluetooth) with a decent range. I do HVAC work and would like to keep an eye on controls in the furnace room while I'm testing our controls and wires in the other parts of the house. My google searches have been fruitless. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Which phone is this? (no not the camera) Posted: 16 Jan 2020 05:25 PM PST Hey guys, Was scrolling through the Insta360 website and noticed this: https://static.insta360.com/assets/www/project/official/product/onex/pc/sec01/onex/1.jpg I love that almost bezeless and dark design. Is this a real phone you can buy on the market? Or just a render? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Looking for the best “nanny cam” as a safety measure to watch elderly grandmother Posted: 16 Jan 2020 10:09 AM PST Looking for a nanny can my mother can use to keep an eye on my grandmother. My grandmother lives alone but has a nurse/aid come in every day to work with her. We want something to make sure she gets out of bed and to the bathroom okay without falling over. Not an invasion of privacy as it would be outside both rooms to see if you made it to the hallways between the rooms. So a feature that has motion detect or rewind would be a must; because if you aren't watching at the right time, you might miss it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Jan 2020 02:49 PM PST Hi, one of my friends birthdays is coming up and I was looking to make them a audio playback box. They way I am intending for it to work is similar to the staples easy button where it plays a random voice line (in this case one of the birthday messages) randomly out of a group of around 10. Does anybody know how I could do that or where I could look. (Note: I do not have a lot of experience in making gadgets but I have a little) [link] [comments]
Waterproof Bluetooth shower/bath speaker with rewind feature? Posted: 16 Jan 2020 07:51 AM PST I'm looking for a speaker that preferably can withstand submersion, but is splashproof nonetheless. I'm most interested in a built-in rewind button. Either a fixed amount (10-30 seconds) or something that interacts with the rewind buttons on apps like Audible. [link] [comments]
